About Fife Group
Fife Group History
Fife Group was formed in 1963 to provide grain warehousing storage to the Fife malting industry. The company was initially called the Bulk Grain Storage Company. After a merger with another Scottish grain storage and transport company, the Russell, Kilgour, and Kelly families formed Fife Warehousing Company in 1974. The focus was to provide warehousing services to the local malting and distilling industries by storing large quantities of locally produced cereals. Fife Warehousing Company also offered general warehousing to businesses in central Fife.
The nineties saw the decline of the malting industry, Fife Group quickly adapted its business model and moved into the self-storage, removals, and commercial property markets. Current Managing Director John Kilgour joined Fife Group in 1983, working alongside his Father and Uncle, the founders of the business.
Today Fife Group remains a family-owned business owned by the Kilgour, Russell, and Kelly families. Fife Group Chairman John G Russell of the Russell Group and Ian Russell also continue to serve on the Board of Directors. Fife Group continues to work closely with the Russell Group who operates transport, self-storage and warehousing across the UK
In 2015, Fife Group moved their headquarters from Dysart to Kirkcaldy. The newly renovated building also boots new offices for lease within a prime location in Kirkcaldy. Fife Training Services and the Kirkcaldy self-stores are also located in the same building.
Fife Group also gives back to the local community by helping local charities and supporting other Fife businesses.

John Kilgour
Managing Director
John is the Managing Director and has worked at Fife Group for over thirty years. John’s father was one of the founders of Fife Group. As Managing Director, John is responsible for leading the company, developing strategies, and new business opportunities. John also looks after the commercial property portfolio.
John lives near St. Andrews with his wife Victoria and three children. Outside of Fife Group, John enjoys playing squash, tennis, running, and skiing. His other interests involve helping with the family horses, charity work, travelling, fine art, and the occasional bit of politics.
Gillian Donald
Director & Company Secretary
Gillian is the Director and Company Secretary at Fife Group. Gillian’s father is also one of the founders of Fife Group. She has been part of the family business for over thirty years. After completing an HND in Business Studies, Gillian joined KSK Freight Ltd transferring to Fife Group in 1998. Gillian is responsible for HR, accounts, and budgeting.
Gillian lives near Kinross with her husband and loves to travel. Once a keen tennis player, Gillian still enjoys a game of tennis and a spot of gardening.
George Keddie
Operations Director
George is the Operations Director at Fife Group and joined the company in July 2020.
George previously spent 32 years with Havelock Europa serving as Warehouse Manager and Operations Support Manager. George is responsible for all operational aspects at Fife Group covering Warehousing, Self-Store, and Property Maintenance.
George lives in Kirkcaldy with his wife Charmain and two boys. When George is not working George is a keen golfer, enjoys a game of ice hockey, and going to the gym. George also helps coach his sons 2008 football team.
