Description

Racking Inspection Course equips participants with the knowledge and hands‑on skills needed to evaluate the condition, safety, and compliance of warehouse racking systems. Its purpose is to help organisations maintain safe storage areas by developing a trained individual—commonly known as the Person Responsible for Racking Safety (PRRS)—who can carry out regular internal inspections in line with recognised standards and HSE expectations.

Training is delivered by experienced instructors, and covers a range of racking types, including pallet and cantilever systems. Learners are taught how to spot damage, assess risks, categorise issues correctly, and understand what actions should be taken to keep racking structures safe and operational.

Core learning areas include:

  • Key health and safety requirements relating to racking inspections
  • How colour‑coded damage categories (Red/Amber/Green) are applied
  • Identifying defects, hazards, and compromised racking components
  • Understanding how racking systems are built and how each part functions
  • Inspection schedules, reporting methods, and record‑keeping
  • Practical inspection exercises carried out within a real working environment

On completion, participants generally gain a certificate valid for three to four years, depending on the provider. This qualification enables trained staff to support ongoing safety checks between formal annual inspections conducted by competent specialists.

Who Should Attend

This course is ideal for warehouse personnel responsible for maintaining safe storage operations, including managers, supervisors, team leaders, forklift drivers, and health and safety staff—essentially anyone who needs a solid understanding of racking integrity and inspection procedures.
